Sew n Sews
This is a group that gathers one Saturday per month (usually the 3rd Saturday), except July/August, to make “lap quilts”, for seniors. We meet from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the church. We provide ”lap quilts” to those that need them. These ” fabric hugs” are given out in December for Christmas each year as a symbol of God’s love for them. All are invited to participate in this project. Quilting experience is helpful but not necessary. Bring your sewing machine, supplies and a bag lunch. Fabric is provided.
MEET OUR SEW N SEWS
Our Sew n Sews are a group of hardworking dedicated women who enjoy fun and fellowship together while sewing for the glory of God. They sew colourful lap quilts for seniors and cuddle quilts as needed.
When you talk to the Sew n Sews, you will hear them say “when I first started this years ago, I thought I was going to be a blessing to others through my efforts, but the truth is, I find myself blessed as well.”
Because a quilt is meant to create warmth and wrap around your legs or body, the Sew n Sews see each one-of-a-kind quilt as being a personal hug from God.
The members of the Sew n Sews have been very busy doing what they love to do: sew!
During Covid-19 their efforts branched out to include scrub caps. Sew n Sews spread God’s love by making and donating over 900 scrub caps for the healthcare sector and beyond.
Just like the lap quilts donated to seniors over the past decade, these scrub caps produced multiple blessings. The caps blessed the health care workers wearing them. The caps also helped to brighten the day for many patients who saw the handmade caps. The caps blessed the Sew n Sews by giving us another opporunity to spread God’s love in new and unexpected ways.
As if this weren’t enough, members of Sew n Sews committed to sewing face masks for family, friends, and others as needed.
This ministry that began in the fall of 2009 has now distributed over 4,000 quilts to-date.
Incredible!
