We invite you to join us for worship. Lean in close and experience Christ’s presence; experience the gifts that His presence brings – HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LOVE.

Our Sunday worship services begin at 10 AM.  The nursery room is available for 3 and under with parental supervision.  The nursery room is equipped with monitors for everyone to enjoy the worship service in a comfortable setting.  Children’s programming (KidsZone) is also available.

Pastor Kirby will be leading us through the study series Looking to Jesus.  To learn more about this Study Series

Our time of worship offers an opportunity to experience Jesus Christ in a life-shaping way.

Prayer is an integral part of the heart of St. John and is woven within our worship services. There are groups that also gather to pray and learn together during the week. Anyone and everyone is invited who may wish to take part. No experience is necessary.

Fellowship building opportunities are available.

At our Communion table we offer bread or gluten free crackers and grape juice representing the body and blood of Christ.  Join us at the table of grace!

Each week we gather to meet with God and experience Jesus in a life-shaping way. We worship through contemporary music with the addition of great hymns of the past. Music is lead by a worship band consisting of vocals, guitars, piano and drums. Thought-provoking video, moments of reflection, teaching and prayer are woven into our service. We seek to honour God through praise, standing together as those seeking to newly discover Jesus, and those who have walked with Him for many years.

KIDSZONE

We offer in-house children’s programming on Sundays such as:

A  NURSERY for ages 0-3 with parental supervision.  Our nursery is a playful, clean environment equipped with toys, books, play stations, climbers, rocking chairs and change table.  Everything needed to make your infant’s stay in the Nursery feel more like home.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING (KidsZone) groups for ages 4-12.  Each Sunday we offer age appropriate children’s programming with dedicated volunteers who share both a heart for children and a love for Jesus.  In addition, all of our children’s programming volunteers are screened through a police records check.

During the worship service, our church Elders are available to pray with you for your personal needs.

Moments of reflection are offered whether through inspiring words spoken or musical interlude

  • Baptisms

    Baptism for All Ages

At St. John, we are honored to welcome all ages into Christ’s church and into His community through Baptism.  Whether an infant or an adult, we look forward to celebrating with you this very significant moment.  If you are pursuing baptism at St. John, please contact us at info@stjohnuc.ca or (905) 387-2135.

  • Funerals and Memorials

    Jesus Comforts His Disciples

John 14:1-3 (NIV) 1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

A Funeral or Memorial Service is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth; but for those who believe in Christ Jesus our Savior, it is to mark the beginning of a new life with Jesus.

Are you searching for a place that can:

    1. honor your loved one,
    2. enable family and friends to come together to express grateful memories or grief
    3. give thanks for their life

If so, please contact us.  Whether a small ceremony or packed church, everyone is welcome!

At St. John, we understand how difficult this may be, and we encourage you to contact us to see how we can help to make this time a little easier. If you have any questions or require further information, please contact the church office at 905.387.2135 or by email at info@stjohnuc.ca.

  • Senior's and Long-Term Care Worship Services

    Senior’s Ministry Team

When possible, a team of dedicated individuals from St. John reach out to seniors across the Hamilton mountain with the love of Christ.  They can be seen visiting seniors each month at locations such as the Court at Rushdale Retirement Community, Macassa Lodge and Extendicare Hamilton, Long-Term Care Facilities.   This team of volunteers provide a friendly and compassionate worship experience for the residents including singing hymns and songs of praise, sharing scripture, offering Communion as well as an inspirational message from our Pastor.

  • Celebrating Advent and Christmas

From the first Sunday of Advent to the Christmas Eve service, the Christmas season at St. John United Church is a faith-filled journey to the Manger of Bethlehem. We celebrate with joy, in anticipation of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, over four weeks prior to December 25th.

All are welcome to join us!

Through Advent and on Christmas Eve, our Pastor teaches various aspects of the miracle of the birth of Jesus Christ: that God came to earth as a baby, to live fully human and fully God; to promise eternal life to all who believe in Him.

Favourite Christmas Carols, contemporary songs, special music and hymns are carefully chosen and are all a part of the Advent season, and do much to deepen our faith at this season.

There are many highlights over Advent; here are but a few:

    • Lighting of the Advent Candle, one each Sunday
    • Blessing of the quilts being handed out to those in our community who need to know they are loved
    • Remembrance of loved ones by personal candle lighting
    • Nativity play done by the Sunday School

Christmas Eve is perhaps the end of the season, but it is the beginning of our faith. This year we offer one service on Christmas Eve and one Christmas morning as we celebrate the birth of our Saviour and King, Jesus!

    • 7:00 pm Family Communion Candlelight Christmas Service
    • 10:00 am Sunday, December 25th

St John United Church is dedicated to honouring the message of the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and celebrates with reverence each and every year.

  • Celebrating Easter (Holy Week)

You are invited to join us during Holy Week as we journey through the Easter Story and reflect on its significance.
