Our time of worship offers an opportunity to experience Jesus Christ in a life-shaping way.

Our church is closed until it’s once again safe for us to join together in worship.

Although our doors are closed due to the pandemic, we are happy to connect with you each week. Email us info@stjohnuc.ca and we will provide you with access to uplifting messages, music, and prayers. Those already on our list will continue to receive weekly updates.

Join us as we gather together to worship our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. All are welcome! Do you want to know what to expect? Check out the chart by clicking on the appropriate titles.

Prayer is an integral part of the heart of St. John. There are groups that gather to pray during the week, before service on Sunday and prayer retreats available throughout the year. Anyone and everyone is invited who may wish to take part. No experience is necessary.

Fellowship building opportunities through personal greeting and pre-service coffee.

At our Communion table we offer bread or gluten free crackers and grape juice representing the body and blood of Christ. Join us at the table of grace!

Each week we gather to meet with God and experience Jesus in a life-shaping way. We worship through contemporary music with the addition of great hymns of the past. Music is lead by a worship band consisting of vocals, guitars, piano and drums. Thought-provoking video, moments of reflection, teaching and prayer are woven into our service. We seek to honour God through praise, standing together as those seeking to newly discover Jesus, and those who have walked with Him for many years.

Each Sunday we offer age appropriate children’s programming with qualified volunteers who share both a heart for children and a love for Jesus.

A SUPERVISED NURSERY for ages 0-3.  Our nursery is a playful, clean environment equipped with toys, books, play stations, climbers, rocking chairs and change table.  Everything needed to make your infant’s stay in the Nursery feel more like home.

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING (KidsZone) groups for ages 4-12.  Our qualified leaders are members of our congregation who have a heart for children and a heart for Jesus.

During the worship service, our church Elders are available to pray with you for your personal needs.

Moments of reflection are offered whether through inspiring words spoken or musical interlude

  • Baptisms

    BAPTISM FOR ALL AGES

At St. John, we are honored to welcome all ages into Christ’s church and into His community through Baptism.  Whether an infant or an adult, we look forward to celebrating with you this very significant moment.  If you are pursuing baptism at St. John, please contact us at info@stjohnuc.ca or (905) 387-2135.

  • Funerals and Memorials

    Jesus Comforts His Disciples

John 14:1-3 (NIV) 1“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

A Funeral or Memorial Service is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth; but for those who believe in Christ Jesus our Savior, it is to mark the beginning of a new life with Jesus.

Are you searching for a place that can:

    1.  honor your loved one,
    2. enable family and friends to come together to express grateful memories or grief
    3. give thanks for their life

If so, please contact us.  Whether a small ceremony or packed church, everyone is welcome!

At St. John, we understand how difficult this may be, and we encourage you to contact us to see how we can help to make this time a little easier. If you have any questions or require further information, please contact the church office at 905.387.2135 or by email at info@stjohnuc.ca.

  • Senior and Long-Term Care Worship Services

James 1:27  Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows (widowers) in their distress…

    Locations:

THE COURT OF RUSHDALE, 2:00-3:00 pm on the 2nd Tuesday of the month

EXTENDICARE, 10:00 am–11:00 am on the 3rd Friday of the month

MACASSA LONG TERM CARE FACILITY, 10:00 am – 11:00 am on the 4th Friday of the month

    The Team:

The team consists of a number of individuals who have a heart to reach out to this resident population as they can no longer participate in praise and worship at their own church congregations.

Team members meet at the Long Term Care location. Team members rotate as able through the various roles needed in a worship service such as Scripture reading, sharing a devotional and serving communion, etc.

    The Service:

The service is planned around the Sermon theme with lots of singing — traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs!  Generally, our Pastor gives the sermon, and celebrates Holy Communion once per month at each location.  The service is informal but has all of the traditional elements of praise and worship, prayer and Scripture.

  • Celebrating Advent and Christmas

From the first Sunday of Advent to the Christmas Eve service, the Christmas season at St. John United Church is a faith-filled journey to the Manger of Bethlehem. We celebrate with joy, in anticipation of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, over four weeks prior to December 25th.

All are welcome to join us!

Through Advent and on Christmas Eve, our Minister teaches various aspects of the miracle of the birth of Jesus Christ: that God came to earth as a baby, to live fully human and fully God; to promise eternal life to all who believe in Him.

Favourite Christmas Carols, contemporary songs, special music and hymns are carefully chosen and are all a part of the Advent season, and do much to deepen our faith at this season.

There are many highlights over Advent; here are but a few:

    • Lighting of the Advent Candle, one each Sunday in succession: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love
    • Blessing of the quilts being handed out to those in our community who need to know they are loved
    • Remembrance of loved ones by personal candle lighting
    • Nativity play done by the Sunday School

Christmas Eve is perhaps the end of the season, but it is the beginning of our faith. There are two separate services on Christmas Eve:

    • 7:00 pm Family Service
    • 10:00 pm Communion candlelight service

St John United Church is dedicated to honouring the message of the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and celebrates with reverence each and every year.

  • Celebrating Easter (Holy Week) 2020

You are invited to join us during Holy Week as we journey through the Easter Story and reflect on its significance.

    The Journey to The Cross
Beginning Palm Sunday, come for a self-guided tour in our Sanctuary of the moments leading up to the cross.  Consider coming early to one of the other events listed below, or stop in at any time during the day when the church office is open.

    Palm Sunday

celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

    Good Friday

Join us in the Sanctuary for a time of worship as we
remember the Cross and the sacrifice of Jesus.

    Easter Sunday

Join us in the Sanctuary for a time of worship as we

  • Summer at St. John

Each summer St. John is privileged to offer inspiring guest speakers that will challenge us and encourage us in our daily walk with Jesus.  This summer is no different.  Rev. Steve Huntley and Steve Cowley will bring us through the summer with their personal style as unique as their personalities.  They offer both welcoming and informative teaching including life experiences to help us to associate and identify their teaching in our own lives.

    VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL:

Due to Covid-19 Vacation Bible School will not be running this summer.  We look forward to the time when we are able to have VBS join us again.

Vacation Bible School is offered to the children in the community to enjoy games, crafts, songs, and learn about God in our lives.

We do offer other programs such as PowerHouse Kids and Impact weekly throughout this time of isolation.  For further information, please contact the church office at info@stjohnuc.ca.
