Personal Testimonies

I am so thankful to God and our church family for the outpouring of love and assistance we felt during a very trying time. When I think back to the day of Dennis' accident; he was standing beside his car and was hit by an oncoming vehicle and thrown 30 ft. That was an aweful experience yet God was there! You see I don't believe in coincidence. A friend of ours from the church, Tracey, was there right as the accident happened and she immediately began to call around our church family for prayer support. She also contacted our good friend Kelly who was able to meet Dennis at the hospital being a nurse understood what questions to ask and interpret for me as I was overwhelmed by what had just happened. Our pastor also arrived within 20 minutes. We really could not have made it through if it was not for our church family. The cards of encouragement, phone calls, meals, etc. poured out for us. Today Dennis is healing well but we will never forget all that God and people did for us! Pat Bryson, Hamilton, ON

The summer of 2009 I was wondering how I could serve God with quilting because I love to quilt. God put it in my heart to develop a way to make lap quilts for seniors at Macassa Lodge in the form of fabric hugs. After discussing the idea with Rev Glen, an appeal to the congregation went out for help to launch this idea. When I embarked on this journey little did I realize how this would change my life. Our first year we had donations come in and volunteers to help us make 35 quilts. Wow! What a blessing! Hence Sew & Sews was born to spread God’s love through making and giving away hand-made quilts to those in need. Since then the numbers have been growing dramatically as the need has arisen. But more than that... We have gone to many places and each and every time the experience has touched not only the lives of the recipients but of those making the quilts. The friendships that have developed and the depth of caring in the Sew & Sews group are absolutely amazing. The love of Christ is poured out from beginning to end and we have the privilege of watching and experiencing it all in action! It is really amazing to watch this unfold in front of us. We did not dream it could be so great!
