Isaiah 40:3-5

Isaiah 40:3-5

Scripture: Isaiah 40:3-5

Prepare the way for the Lord
Rev. Glen Wells
Let's be honest, do we really make preparations for the Lord to visit with us?  Do we look at the state of our soul and the way we actually live and get everything just so, so that when He visits, there are no awkward moments?
It's because we live unprepared, that when the Lord knocks, we let it go unanswered for fear of what the conversation might sound like.
But what if we did prepare?  What if we stopped doing all we know is wrong, and went to anyone we hurt and sought forgiveness and made amends.  What if as we studied God's word, we let the Holy Spirit tutor us and applied every lesson to our living.  As best we could, we prepared for the Lord's knock - we could be so prepared, so readied ourselves, that we actually welcome His visit.
That's what Isaiah 40 is trying to get us to do.  The promise is that when we have done all we know to do to prepare for God's visit, guess what...HE VISITS.  "Then the glory of the Lord will be revealed."
As I've been studying this text this week, I've been made aware of some housekeeping that I need to get at, so that I'm ready for His visit!  My hope is that we all do whatever needs to be done so that, we'll joyfully welcome the Lord's knock at our hearts door.
